Mark 406 / 408 Marlin Regional Chat

Live from the regional chat, Hawke's Bay

Marine Intel

"Even 1 to 2 NM north of 408 into the chlorophyll bloom"

Matt C

"Just had a marlin in the gear 1.5 NM north of the 408"

Matt C

"This is getting frustrating, seen 5 now. They just aren't feeding"

Marine Intel

"When I read Matt was just outside 406 I had a look at the chats and I had a feeling the marlin would be on the slightly warmer nutrient rich water and boomfa the stick faces were there, just a bugger they were not on the chew."

Matt C

"I've never seen anything like that out of HB. We ended up having 10 shots at a marlin today, we saw 3 hovering bait on the surface but we just couldn't get a bite out of them. A tank full of live baits and we would've nailed them I reckon. Absolutely on point Matt, I'm excited for the next trip now."
